Alphabet Soup // Illustrator

I decided to take a basic simple font, and play about with layering remembering to keep the design in fitting with my previous 'layer' brief. Here are some simple solutions I came up with;

Above are some simple solid black outlined versions before I have incorporated colour. The first is simply the original typeface in uppercase and the one on the right shows lowercase layered on top of uppercase reflected the work in my earlier brief. This looks really strong and powerful however I feel some of the characters are illegible and not as effective.

Above I have begun to incorporate colour into my designs the first ones uses solid 100% opacity tones whilst in the second one I have toned down the opacity of the yellow to 80% allowing you to be able to see through to the black underneath. This works really well and the black and yellow create a strong contrast. I am indecisive about the glyphs as I feel colour should be incorporated as well.
