'Stamp It' Statement of Intent

Initial Idea

Concept- I will be producing a series of 6 postage stamps (1st, 66p, 68p, 76p, £1, £1.10) the designs will be focusing
on the future, and making sure that the future is bright and the resources of the planet are used responsibly. The
designs will be based around up positive environment changes that the youth of today will be responsible for. I need
to complete further research however, I have decided to base my designs on either low impact transport, or reducing
water consumption.

Context- This postage stamp will be sold in the royal mail post office in the UK, where it will be sent out to the
audience through delivery on envelopes or packages that will be an ambassador for the UK.

Content- The stamps will include simplistic designs with 6 colours, one to represent each change in price. Each
stamp must also include the Queen's Head, this must be inward facing and I have decided to create consistency
placing it in the same format on all 6 stamps. I will hopefully create a clean and crisp vector style image as I feel on
such a small surface area and to convey a message effectively detail must be minimal. I will be using the
statement' Reduce, then reuse and only then recycle' as a basis for my designs, this is taken from the RSA brief. I
will need to produce 4 A3 design boards that will show my development and direction these must include the final
piece 4x larger and to scale. I will also consider including a link to websites that promote reducing water
consumption or support low impact transport.

Audience- My target audience will be the younger generation, to change there mind set of being kinder to the
environment, to execute my designs effectively and target them at the correct audience I will use bright colours and
simplistic vector imagery. I will be targeting this audience as they are the future generation; it will be primarily aimed
at 16-25 year olds, as any younger and you often don't receive large amounts of post and therefore won't see the
circulation of my stamp set as often as a slightly older generation.
